Mechanical Design

  • Interface with clients and peers to develop concepts, define project requirements and develop SOW/RFQ specifications for proposals and project management
  • Design complex machinery with pneumatic and electromechanical components
  • Design and integrate robots, EOAT, feeding devices and material handling cells
  • Produce high level designs and detail/assembly drawings for manufacturing
  • Install new equipment and troubleshoot issues with company installed systems

  • Conduct risk assessments for machine safety systems and robotic cells
  • Lead internal and customer design reviews and work with Electrical and Controls Engineering peers to ensure project quality and timely delivery

Machinist/Machine Builder
Overview
Solara Automation (a custom factory automation integrator / industrial machinery manufacturer) seeks an experienced Machinist/Machine Builder who is competent with manual machining, can efficiently create low volume precision parts to print, is comfortable with machine fabrication and assembly, and can work in a professional manner with minimal direct supervision.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Associate Degree in related technical field, Tool & Die Maker Journeyman certificate, or completed Apprenticeship program preferred.
Min. 4 years’ experience – setting up and operating Manual Mills/Lathes. CNC milling a plus.
Skills & Abilities
• Possess strong attention to detail and team-oriented work ethic
• Read/interpret/implement engineering drawings and understands machine tolerances
• Safely and correctly operate machining equipment including Manual Mills and Lathes
• Plan sequence of operations and machine parts with close tolerances to drawings
• Verify dimensions are within tolerances using precision measuring instruments
• Use Geometry/Trig to analyze information, setup machining operations
• Mechanically fit, assemble, and troubleshoot assembly and automation equipment
• Work independently on assigned tasks and contribute as a valued team member
• Competent in computer programs in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Have personal tools and measurement equipment required of a typical machinist
• Willing to learn, develop new skills, and take on other duties / responsibilities as assigned
• Knowledge or experience with BobCAD or Solidworks a plus (not required)
